E H Hall- Great Scientist!
One Discovery Discussion Each Month Hall Effect E. H. Hall in the later half of nineteenth century (1879) discovered an effect, which became revolutionary over the period of time. He noted that when an electrical current passes through a conductor placed in a magnetic field, a potential difference proportional to the current passing and to the magnetic field is developed across the material in a direction perpendicular to both the current and to the magnetic field. This effect is known as the Hall effect, named after the great scientist E.H.Hall. Today,  many magnetic field measurements, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, flow sensors and position and motion detectors are based on this effect. It was first experiment through which we could say that sign of charge carriers in a conductor is negative. With the advent of semiconductor physics it has become more pertinent and useful discovery. This month, my blogs would go for discussing this effect and on persona o...
