Husband is considered godlike in the Hindu religion. Holy Mother Goddess Parvati has the highest order of love and dedication for Lord Shiva. They are such inseparable pair, Shiva & Shakti. 
Maa Parvati had done most difficult sadhna to reunite with Shiva. Teej festival is celebrated to worship Maa Parvati and remember the dedication and love she possesses for Lord Shiva. Fast is also observed by women and they enjoy the group pooja and group celebrations. Devotees listen to Teej Katha on this occasion with their life partner in their mind.
Pooja and fast of Teej Festival may be observed by both married and unmarried women. Married women do it for their husbands, whereas, unmarried women do it for their would be life partner.
Clad in new clothes and jewelry, women worship for the life and success of their husbands. Goddess Maa Parvati is omnipotent and grants favors to the worshiper. The festival is full of enthusiasm and joy. Women celebrate differently in different parts of the country.
